Last but not least,

Chapter 9

If you are interested in checking out the site, here is the link!

I stumbled upon the chapter 5 while browsing around youtube's playlist to just play some music while i had to prepare on studying community health as i'll be having a class test on it later this friday. To see such passion written on the works of a person, it captivates me. To me, it's like leaving your footprint behind for the world to know, you've made this and that you've created this whole new dimension of perspective for the world to look at it from. It's really beautiful. And rare. You dont see this often anymore. People nowadays most of the time, just do what they think is good for them or what they think is the right thing to do. And sometimes, that makes me question myself. Maybe cause i'm not enjoying sitting down in class all day long listening to crappy lectures. Because i honestly think, the best way to learn is to go out there and learn.

“A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.”

- Coco Chanel

I adore and am aspired by woman who stands up for liberty and are passionate out loud. I believe that to truly live, depends on how meaningful and colorful you would want to paint your life. And if you dont like the idea of how your life is, then create a new one your own. At least that was what Coco did. I should start sketching on my life.. roughly. Haha. After all, you only have one chance to live right?

Quote

Heartbreaks suck. They really do. They are unfair, unjust and often unforeseen. But they do teach you a lot about yourself, about what you want, and most importantly, what you don’t want. They give you opportunities to practice compassion and courage, and ultimately, to grow. The dreamer in me thinks that maybe heartbreaks happen in order to prepare you for the person you are supposed to end up with.

Love is...

Love is appreciating and being thankful everyday for the person you have, and treating them with care and thoughtfulness. Love is not waiting until you lose that person to know this.
Love is remembering the power of those three words, I love you, I love you, I love you.
Love is making decisions for “we”. It’s having the forethought and consideration to know that anything that is going on with you, any problem, any success – is also happening to your partner.
Love is nourishing your body and making your health a priority. Because when you’re sick, it’s the people around you that suffer the most. Because you want to be able to maximize your time on earth being a partner, a parent and a friend.
Love is being the best person you can be, every day. It is waking up and making the choice to act with integrity, honesty, loyalty, and commitment.
It is choosing to act with love over fear, even when you are in pain.It is acting with dignity and grace regardless of how angry or upset you may be.
Love is forgiving.
Love is wanting the best for your partner, even if that sometimes means to let them go…
Love is commitment. Love is a verb, not a noun.
Love is not fleeting; it does not come and go with the feelings and emotions of the day.
Love is not dictated by lust, rather, lust is just one of its many forms. And while love may not look like how it was portrayed in fairytales, it is magical.
Because for love you will make sacrifices, you will be selfless and you will say sorry even when you know you are right. And when you hit a roadblock where the odds seem stacked against the survival of your relationship, you will fight for it with everything you’ve got. Because love is worth it. Because the person you have chosen to commit to is worth it.
Sometimes you will do things for love without rhyme or reason. And sometimes love is the only reason you need.

8 Ways To Be Attractive | Thought Catalog

8 Ways To Be Attractive | Thought Catalog

Whether it’s single girl seeking eligible bachelor, man seeking woman, or any of the possible combinations, there are definable traits that make a person attractive, wherever you land on the sexual spectrum. Small changes in the way you behave and hold yourself can do wonders for your soul-mate magnetism.

1. Be kind to everyone.

That doesn’t mean drop your wit or your sarcasm, if that’s your thing, but being a cruel snob is not attractive. Even the people that act like jerks don’t act like that when they’re alone with their significant others. If they did, they’d be dropped like the beat in a Monica song (or Simon Curtis, depending on your generation).

2. Be working towards a goal.

Whether it’s working for a promotion, studying to further your education, training for a marathon, or anything else that requires actual commitment, it’s sexy. Maybe it indicates responsibility. Maybe it makes you seem like you have higher standards. Then again, maybe it’s just attractive to care about more than “why didn’t you call me back?”

3. Have fun.

Don’t be that girl that sits at the bar with her arms crossed, rolling her eyes at every guy that strikes up a conversation. Don’t be the guy that always declines an invitation out. That does not mean be a wasted, incessant mess every night, because that’s a whole different kind of unattractive, but let yourself laugh in a group setting every now and then. Be goofy if you feel it in the moment. No one wants to date Frosty the Snowman.

4. Learn how to have a conversation.

You may have a sarcastic, witty streak in you. That’s great – people love banter. But know when to turn it off. Too much causticity is exhausting. Likewise, pay attention to people when they speak. Don’t be so stuck inside your own head that you’re oblivious to conversational innuendos. Don’t act dumber than you are.

5. Have good hygiene.

This doesn’t mean dress up all the time. But clean your fingernails, brush your teeth, take a shower, and wash your clothes. Don’t wear wrinkled shirts with holes in them, unless you’re doing something that requires such attire, like painting a barn. Being dirty (in the literal sense, that is) is not going to increase your attractiveness.

6. Laugh at your own mistakes and faults, within reason.

“Within reason” means have perspective – don’t laugh about the fact that you accidentally hit someone with your car. But do laugh about forgetting to button a button on your shirt, or getting tongue-tied during a presentation. If you act overly ashamed, your friends may comfort you, but your prospective romantic interest may just be embarrassed for you.

7. Do not be jealous.

Jealousy indicates neediness, which makes other people feel superior to you, which they should not. Do not let anyone be better than you – allow them to be equal. “Oh, there were girls at that party tonight? That’s nice. How was dinner the other night with your brother?” Be cool, dude.

8. Be yourself, and be happy with whoever that is.

People are attracted to happy people. If you haven’t gotten the gist yet, these tips aren’t just for making yourself attractive to other people. They’re also for making you like yourself, which is of course the whole secret. It’s a tough thing to do, and it requires hard work, but once you learn to love the person you are, you will find that other people start to love you as well. Relationships break because people are unable to address their own insecurities, and that comes out as frustration.
Molding into your own version of likable and loyal may take time, but have heart. If you’re trying to do it, you’re a step ahead of everyone else who hasn’t yet realized that’s where they need to be. You’re also not alone in the search for oneself. Don’t average the voices inside your head – listen to them all. Do not isolate yourself.
You may hate the things you’re supposed to like (for example, you’re a girl who hates fashion and loves the intricacies of graphic novels, or vice versa if all your friends are into graphic novels), but so be it. Embrace that. If people make you feel like crap for it, screw them. That type of person is likely a douchebag and would make you unhappy in the end anyways, so better to be rid of them early. As a wise presidential adviser once said, “Those who matter don’t mind, and those who mind don’t matter.”

Stop Being Afraid Of Happiness

When the other shoe seems to consistently drop and sadness feels like a perpetual state of being, it’s hard not to tremble in the face of that fleeting feeling called happiness. You’ve become so accustomed to a pessimistic viewpoint that a change in perspective leaves you seeing double or tirelessly squinting or completely blind altogether. So you call it necessary and you label it “defense” and you talk yourself out of unknown situations.
Stop.
Stop being afraid of happiness.
Stop being afraid to look in the mirror and hold your head high despite what a magazine or billboard or a member of the opposite sex considers attractive.
Stop being afraid to smile when they remember to put the toothpaste in the shower because, unlike them, you can’t brush your teeth without making a mess so you kill two birds with one stone every morning.
Stop being afraid of laying back in an armchair and filling your lungs with relaxation and taking the time to appreciate your accomplishments and the hard work that captured them.
Stop being afraid to lean on broad shoulders or hide between frail arms or blink tears that make you look less than desirable but allow you to experience real, unabashed, genuine comfort.
Stop being afraid to sink into a quiet night at their place where you desperately try to cook while they harmlessly chuckle and you both end up ordering from a takeout menu.
Stop being afraid to laugh so hard you snort or cry so hard it hurts or waste days with others that have occupied your life long after the ones you once loved so much have gone.
Stop being afraid to cherish goodbye kisses and good morning whispers and how-was-your-day hugs.
Stop being afraid to show the birthmark you always cover and the scar you got from your father and the message that ended the relationship you compare every subsequent relationship to.
Stop being afraid to admit that you love seeing them every day and miss them when they’re only a few miles away and have a hard time sleeping at night when they’re not next to you.
Stop being afraid to put on music and dance in your underwear and smile for no reason other than you’re enjoying a moment completely alone.
Stop being afraid of that greasy burger or that layered cake or that five cheese macaroni that leaves you in a succulent heaven only calories and sugars can take you.
Stop being afraid of life.
Because the other shoe will drop too many times and sadness will feel like a perpetual state of being more than once and a pessimistic viewpoint will begin to feel all too common again and again.
And in those moments, your happiness will carry you through.

The pressure coming from IMU is amazingly overwhelming! But yeah. Im looking forward for the holidays again! Went back over the 3 days weekend last weekend. Spent quality time with the family and of course him :) I should totally update that right? Hahah.

Unintentional

I said something very unintentional but yet extremely hurting to someone. & I can't help but feel like i much rather be the person to feel all the hurt rather than to feel all this guilt, wishing that i can turn back time and take everything back. It feels like i always tend to hurt everyone. I really really wish i can take it all back. Its really true that I need to control myself. I tend to burst when im ignited with fire like a fireworks, roaring up the sky aimlessly for a brief moment and after that i'll be all better. But the explosion might hurt the people igniting me and if they're not careful, i might give them severe burns or even cause them to be handicapped. Its a terrible feeling to know that you ruined someone's start of the day. Especially if its someone you love.

Im not sure if this is the defense wall i've built myself to never ever be hurt by others. But i have a feeling it is. And because of the past with Jonathan, the wall has gone higher and thicker.

Somehow i'm afraid things won't be the same anymore. No matter how much I convince myself it will be. Maybe i should tell him the truth about what i really am afraid of now. I'm afraid history might repeat itself.

Exhausted

I'm so tired of having to live up to so many expectations. Of having to take care of the so-called "image" everyone looks at when they know a person. I mean like, fuck what society thinks man. Wasn't it that as long I know whats right and what wrong and what i am doing, is enough? And what's wrong with doing things that i want for me? Why is it that i keep getting said that i'm crossing the line and that nobody knows who i am anymore? I'm so tired of getting that over and over again. If you really dont know who the hell i am, then... whatever then. Seriously how am i supposed to react to that? What do you want me to say?

I want so many things for my life. And at times it feels like you can never get the best of both worlds. But i always like to believe that i'm able to. And that anything can happen as long as you believe. At times i do feel like i've changed and i believe that's normal in order to adapt yourself to your surroundings and current situation.

It feels pathetic venting out here. But at the same time, it feels such a relief. What is this -.- Such contradictions. But thats the perks of blogging. You're able to write out whateverthefuck you want and no one else is able to say anything about it.

Ride

I was in the winter of my life- and the men I met along the road were my only summer. At night I fell sleep with vision of myself dancing and laughing and crying with them. Three year down the line of being on an endless world tour and memories of them were the only things that sustained me, and my only real happy times. I was a singer, not very popular one, who once has dreams of becoming a beautiful poet- but upon an unfortunate series of events saw those dreams dashed and divided like million stars in the night sky that I wished on over and over again- sparkling and broken. But I really didn’t mind because I knew that it takes getting everything you ever wanted and then losing it to know what true freedom is.
When the people I used to know found out what I had been doing, how I had been living- they asked me why. But there’s no use in talking to people who have a home, they have no idea what its like to seek safety in other people, for home to be wherever you lied you head.
I was always an unusual girl, my mother told me that I had a chameleon soul. No moral compass pointing me due north, no fixed personality. Just an inner indecisiviness that was as wide as wavering as the ocean. And if I said that I didn’t plan for it to turn out this way I’d be lying- because I was born to be the other woman. I belonged to no one- who belonged to everyone, who had nothing- who wanted everything with a fire for every experience and an obssesion for freedom that terrified me to the point that I couldn’t even talk about- and pushed me to a nomadic point of madness that both dazzlez and dizzied me.
Every night I used to pray that I’d find my people- and finally I did- on the open road. We have nothing to lose, nothing to gain, nothing we desired anymore- except to make our lives into a work of art.
LIVE FAST. DIE YOUNG. BE WILD. AND HAVE FUN.
I believe in the country America used to be. I belive in the person I want to become, I believe in the freedom of the open road. And my motto is the same as ever- *I believe in the kindness of strangers. And when I’m at war with myself- I Ride. I Just Ride.*
Who are you? Are you in touch with all your darkest fantasies?
Have you created a life for yourself where you’re free to experience them?
I Have.
I Am Fucking Crazy. But I Am Free.

Rant

It's been such a while since I've last updated something so personal up in this space. Honestly I guess it's because there's really nothing much to update on and nothing seemed permanent... Ever.

Til now.

But then I can't help but question, is this really permanent for real?

In a way I guess, I can never know. And it's only been 5 days. This is... Bullocks. What have I put myself into? Is this the right thing? OMG. I think TOO much.

How do you stop thinking anyways? Ugh. At the same time I feel, this isn't helping much. Ranting out here prolly let's out some steam but then again it doesn't really give me much answers. Humans are such complicated beings! Or maybe it's cause I'm just too used to with the whole mind playing game. This is so consuming. I can feel myself feeling overwhelmed.

The conversation last night felt so fake. And I feel like I'm the only one reaching out here. Whatever la. Screw this. I think I look so dramatic, emotional and desperate. Either that or I'm just thinking too much again. Wtf. I hate my brain.

The People You Will Fall In Love With In Your 20s | Thought Catalog

You will fall in love with someone who annoys you, whose orgasm face looks and feels pathetic. Despite all of this, there’s something keeping you drawn to them, something that makes you want to protect them from the harsh world. What you fail to realize, however, is that you are the harsh world. You aren’t their noble protector — you are someone to be protected from but it takes a lot of dates, a lot of nights where you question whether or not you are actually a good person, for this to ever resonate with you. When it’s over and whatever love is left is put back in the fridge like a sad plate of leftovers, you will finally understand that you have the power to hurt someone. You can either hurt them or love them and it’s up to you to decide what kind of role you would like to take on in future relationships. What feels more comfortable — being the one who loves more or being the one who’s loved less?
You will fall in love with someone who’s cold and always seemingly pushing you away. When all is said and done, they will be forever known as the one person you couldn’t get to love you. Unfortunately, it will hurt and sting worse than the good ones, the ones that chopped up your meat for you and picked out an eyelash from your eye and were nice to your mother, because love often feels like a game we need to win. And when we lose, when we realize we couldn’t get what we ultimately desired from a person, it makes us feel like a failure and erases all the memories of those who loved us in the past. It’s a permanent smudge on your love resume.
You will fall in love with someone for one night and one night only. They’ll come to you when you need them and be gone in the morning when you don’t. At first, this will make you feel empty and you’ll try to convince yourself that you could’ve loved this person for longer than a night, but you can’t. Some people are just meant to make cameo appearances, some are destined to be a pithy footnote. That’s okay though. Not every person we love has to stick around. Sometimes it’s better to leave while you’re still ahead. Sometimes it’s better to leave before you get unloved.
You will fall in love with the old couple down the street because to you they represent the impossible: a stable, long-lasting love. You’re trying to get someone to like you for more than ten minutes. A monogamous “never get sick of ya” love seems unfathomable. “What’s your secret, sir? Do you just say yes a lot?”
You will fall in love with smells, the good and the bad kind. You will want to wear your lovers shirt because it makes you feel close to them and you’re okay with being that PSYCHO who is legitimately sniffing their shirt in public. You will fall in love with sweat, certain perfumes, the smell of the season in which you fell in love. This particular love smells like fall. It smells like Halloween and a roaring fire and leaves and fog and mist and candy and food and family and whiskey and sex and the lint that collects on sweaters. When it ends, if it ends, you will never experience another fall without thinking of him, her, it. The memories will stick to the ground like a mound of leaves and will only dissipate when the weather drops.
You will fall in love with your friends. Deep, passionate love. You will create a second family with them, a kind of tribe that makes you feel less vulnerable. Sometimes our families can’t love us all the time. Sometimes we’re born into families who don’t know how to love us properly. They do as much as they can but the rest is up to our friends. They can love you all the time, without judgement. At least the good ones can.
This is where I’m supposed to tell you that you will fall in love with The One, a person who isn’t too cold or too nice. Their “O” face is perfectly fine and they’re not afraid to show how much they love you. This person is supposed to wait for us at the end of the twentysomething road as some kind of reward for all the heartache and loneliness. We deserve them. We’ve earned this kind of love.
So fine. You’re going to fall in love with The One. You’re going to fall in love with someone who will make sense beyond college or a job or a particular season. They’ll make sense forever and won’t ever want to leave you behind. I’m telling you this not because it’s true but because it NEEDS to be true. Everyone is entitled to this kind of love, so why not? Have it. It’s yours. Blow out the candles on your 30th birthday, holding their hand, and let out an exhale that’s been waiting for ten years. Do it. Now

I Am Me

So I was playing with See Chloe's movie maker last night while feeling really hyperventilated to make it to the deadline. Special thanks to my sister Nina for being there for me (although literally you didnt talk much cause you were tired) Haha.

So my 3rd semester in IMU is coming to an end. Been pretty occupied with assignment, preparing on my poster project as well as the presentation and tests. Finals catching up with me though! Part of me is able to wait for that to happen part of me wants to get it done and over with! So i can start my holiday of course :) Friends would be coming back home from all around the world for summer break, can't wait to catch up with them!

As for now, i dont think i'll be blogging much. I think you'd realize that when i tend to "wanna" blog but feeling "lazy" at the same time, i'll just repost on some quote or pretty photos or something. Might as well view my tumblr right? Haha.

I need to make sure i fulfill my promise in updating and blog in here as often as i can. Seriously. This procrastinating just gotta stop. Or i'm pretty sure it'll take a toll on me in the future. There are times I wonder who the hell reads my blog and what's the use on updating it anyways right? Haha. But i figured I should make it for myself instead of for other people's reading pleasure on keeping update with my life. Because one day, i'd like to look back on my life and remember that particular moment. Cause i begin to realize i tend to forget things... the little things that goes by everyday. I only remember things that made me feel something about it.

But if i could, i'd like to remember all the other little things to. Cause who knows? One day it might turn out to be significant after all.

Does that make sense?

Till then :)

We are infinite.

I don't know if I will have the time to write anymore letters                                            Because I might be too busy trying to participate.
So if this does end up being the last letter,
I just want you to know that I was in a bad place before I started high school
And you helped me.
Even if you didn't know what I was talking about
Or know someone who's gone through it.
You made me not feel alone.
Because I know there are people who say all these things don't happen.
And there are people who forget what it's like to be sixteen when they turn seventeen.
And know these will all be stories someday
And our pictures will become old photographs
And we'll all become somebody's mom or dad.
But right now these moments are not stories.
This is happening.
I am here and I am looking at her
And she is so beautiful.
I can see it.
This one moment when you know you're not a sad story,
You are alive.
And you stand up and see the lights on buildings
And everything that makes you wonder,
When you were listening to that song
On that drive with the people you love most in this world.
And in this moment, I swear, we are infinite.

Falling In Love With Yourself

By Kovie Biakolo

We fall in love with people, and we fall in love with places and things. But how many of us have fallen in love with ourselves? It’s a weird concept to think about – falling in love with yourself – it seems like something that we shouldn’t need to experience. But I’m starting to think it might be something we all need to do especially as a prerequisite for all our other types of love especially as we get older.
In the first place, what does it mean to “fall in love?” I ask because the concept is confusing to me: Does love really just happen? Don’t get me wrong, the love between two people can seem to be a rather unexplainable occurrence. And I am indeed one of those weird people who think that love at first sight is possible. But beyond the feelings we feel that let us believe that love is serendipitous, perhaps it is also possible that the culmination of our experiences in life are the true determinants for what we believe, know, and experience love to be. In that breadth, maybe falling in love isn’t so unexplainable, maybe it is a choice that is the consequence of all our other choices, however unaware we are of those choices.
If falling in love is a choice, maybe we can also learn to choose it for ourselves. Something people often fail to ask themselves is whether they like who they are; whether they like that person staring at them in the mirror. It’s easy to be your harshest critic on one hand, many of us are; but on the other hand, it’s also easy to fall into the abyss of conceitedness, and many of us do that too. But if virtue lies between two extremes and I believe it does, falling in love with yourself occurs somewhere in the middle – where we appreciate who we are and the gifts that we have, while accepting our weaknesses and imperfections with a fervent desire to do better each day.
I think that when you don’t fall in love with yourself, there is an expectation that the person you fall in love with, will fill the void of self-worth that is really up to you and I to fill for ourselves. Even when people love us the way we deserve and desire, they can’t always give us what we need. And one of the things we need to give ourselves is our self-worth. I often get a lot of disagreement when I tell people, “You can’t save anyone.” But all I am trying to convey is that no matter how much someone loves you, they can’t give you the things that you have to obtain for yourself – and your self-worth is one of them; learning to be in love with who you are is one of them.
Falling in love with yourself is as beautiful as any experience of love is. It’s learning to laugh at your awkward tendencies and smile at all your quirky habits. It’s learning to be grateful for the many sides you have – confident, crazy, shy, sexy, nerdy, angry, weird, and all the rest of them. It is realizing that you’re one of a kind and that you deserve to give the world the best person you can be. Falling in love with yourself is being happy in your life and knowing that in this one moment in time, you’re beautiful simply because you are you.

Quote

But beyond the feelings we feel that let us believe that love is serendipitous, perhaps it is also possible that the culmination of our experiences in life are the true determinants for what we believe, know, and experience love to be.

How to be 20 something

By Ryan O'Connell
Be really attractive. Your acne is gone, your face has matured without having wrinkles and everything on your body is lifted naturally. Eat bagels seven days a week, binge-drink and do drugs: you’ll still look like a babe. When you turn thirty, it’ll become a different story but that’s, like, not for a really long time.
Reestablish a relationship with your parents. You don’t live with them anymore (hopefully) so start to appreciate them as human beings with thoughts, flaws and feelings rather than soulless life ruiners who won’t let you borrow their car.
Go from eating delicious food at your parents’ house to eating Ragu tomato sauce over Barilla noodles. Develop an eating disorder to save money.
Move into an apartment on the corner of Overpriced and Dangerous. Sleep on a bare mattress with an Ikea comforter. Your mother talks to you about buying a top sheet and a duvet cover but feel like you’re not mature enough to own something called “duvet.”
“Date people who you know you’ll never be able to love.”
Read the New York Times piece, “What Is It About 20-Somethings?” Feel exposed and humiliated. Share it on your Facebook with the caption: “Um….” Your friends will comment “Too real” and that will be the end of that.
Work at a coffee shop but feel hopeful about your career in advertising, writing, whatever. Remember that you’re young and that the world is your oyster. Everything is possible, you still have so much to see and hear. You went to a good school and did good things. Figure if you’re not going to be successful, who the hell is?
Date people who you know you'll never be able to love. See someone for three months for no other reason than because it’s winter and you want to keep warm by holding another body. Date a Republican just so you can say you dated a Republican.
Eventually all these nobodies will make you crave a somebody. Have a real relationship with someone. Go on vacations together, exchange house keys, cry in their arms after a demoralizing day at work. Think about marrying them and maybe even get engaged. Regardless of the outcome, feel proud of yourself for being able to love someone in a healthy way.
Start your twenties with a lot of friends and leave with a few good ones. What happened? People faded away into their careers and relationships. Fights were had and never resolved. Shit happens.
Think of yourself at twenty and hanging out with people who didn’t mean a thing to you. Think about writing papers, about being promiscuous, about trying new things. Think of yourself now and your face looking different and your body feeling different and how everything is just different.
Form the habits that will stick with you forever. Drink your coffee with two sugars and skim milk every morning. Buy a magazine every Friday. Enjoy spending money on candles, smoke pot on Saturdays, watch the television before bed.
Move into a bigger apartment on the corner of Mature and Gentrification and finally buy a duvet cover. Limit your drug-use. If you find yourself unable to do so, start to wonder if you have a problem.
Have your parents come to your place for Christmas. Set the table, make the ham, wear a sophisticated outfit, This will all mean so much at the time.
Think about having children when you stop acting like a child. This may not ever happen.
Maybe this is assuming too much. Maybe this is generalizing. Maybe society uses age as an unrealistic marker for growth. Maybe. Still feel the anxiety on your 30th birthday and think to yourself, “Oh shit, I’m no longer a 20-something.”

Quiz Result:
Diana, Princess of WalesYou are most like DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES!

Perhaps the most beloved royal of all time, Princess Diana left her mark on the world with her tireless efforts for the marginalized and underprivileged. Before, during, and after her marriage to Prince Charles, her beauty, style, and good works led to a fervent following befitting a celebrity. Needless to say, everyone was on Team Diana after the divorce. Her abrupt passing placed the world in a state of mourning, as the legacy she left behind was one of compassion, kindness, and fighting against injustice.

Like Princess Di, you are a gentle, warm-hearted soul who is always ready to help anyone in need. Your kindness extends to all—even to the bitchy girl at the office—because you believe in giving people second chances. You have a quiet charisma that makes people want to know you more and listen to what you have to say. A private person, you tend to keep to yourself, only letting a precious few get close—but you manage to make each one of them feel special.

15 Guaranteed Things That Will Happen To You In Your 20s

By Ryan O'Connell
1. Your social circle will narrow. In college, you’ll have lots of acquaintances and party friends but that will dissipate over time. Eventually, you’ll find yourself unable to spark up new friendships simply because you don’t have the time or desire. Now you’ll only make a new friend and let them into your life if you’re absolutely obsessed with them.
2. You’ll seriously consider going to grad school. You’ll call your mom up in a panic one day and explain that you’ve always enjoyed something like psychology and, well, maybe it’s time to start entertaining the idea of, um, being a therapist. Mom? Stop sighing!
3. You will hate your job at some point, even if it’s better than 99% of your other friends’ jobs. You will be overworked and underpaid presumably until you’re 40. Then, you’ll suddenly be overpaid and not do much of anything. Right? That’s how it works?
4. Someone will betray your trust — a friend or a lover — and it will change the way you view people forever.
5. You will do things that hurt you just because you’re not ready to feel good yet.
6. You will sleep with people who you genuinely like, have a great time with, but never want to date. Ever.
7. After learning your age, someone will say to you, “Wow, you’re so young!” and occasionally you’ll believe them.
8. You’ll miss certain days before they even end.
9. You’ll spend an entire day hungover in bed and nothing will make you feel more like a fucking idiot. Not even taxes or putting the fitted sheet on your bed.
10. You’ll read a book that will change your life. People say that all the time, especially your grandma and your mom and your professors in college, and it always made you roll your eyes but now you get it. Life is changed. You are this book’s bitch. You fell in love with it in the same way you fell in love with someone in high school: blindly and all-consuming. I’m talking about the book that became the lens from which you chose to see the world. You were just waiting for something to come along and explain to you how the world works, to make it all easier for you. and it came. You will remember this  book more vividly than some of the people you dated for three months in college.
11. You’ll meet people who are vultures, who were literally sent to this world just to annoy you, to work half as hard and somehow become more successful. They’re networking leeches. Don’t take their business card! Save yourself!
12. Some days you will wake up and be astounded by how ugly you are. People are always saying things like, “OMG, I look like shit right now!” but they don’t. You’re the one who looks like shit (truly!) so shut up everyone else!
13. That being said, there’ll be some days when you look in the mirror and think to yourself, “Okay, I’d fuck me.” That’s good. It’s healthy to want to fuck yourself.
14. The Internet will hurt your feelings. You will find out information you wish you never knew and maybe you’ll go so far as to even cry! Imagine that: a machine you spent over a grand on is making you weep. Screw the Internet.
15. You will understand that the biggest battle you fight in your twenties is the one you’re in with yourself. The most important thing you can learn in this decade is how to love yourself. Without that knowledge, your life will always be a little bit terrible. You will always be dating someone who’s a little bit rotten and you’ll always be working a job that sucks. It affects everything so be sure to make yourself a priority.  Work on liking yourself before working on getting someone else to like you.
